MANAGER of SUPPLIER DIVERSITY & INCLUSION UPMC
Indea Herndon is the Manager of Supplier Diversity & Inclusion for UPMC. She joined UPMC in September 2019 originally as a member of the Center for Engagement and Inclusion team. Ms. Herndon brings to this position over 10 years of experience in Community Engagement, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Project Management. Prior to joining UPMC, she served as Community Engagement Manager for the August Wilson African American Cultural Center as well as Membership Director and Prevention Director for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh.
Ms. Herndon presently serves as Vice President on the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) board. She also serves as Recording Secretary for the Aurora Reading Club of Pittsburgh, which was established in 1894, and is one of America’s oldest African American arts and cultural organizations.
Ms. Herndon is a recipient of the Onyx Woman Leadership Award. A Pittsburgh native, she previously completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cultural Studies at Chatham University, and has received certifications in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace and Coaching for Engagement and Performance.
Ms. Herndon’s responsibilities within Supplier Diversity & Inclusion include:
- Serving as the first line of contact for diverse businesses
- Connecting UPMC Sourcing Leads to potential diverse business partners
- Reviewing and maintaining the Contract Horizon Report
- Leading the Supplier Diversity & Inclusion education efforts
