Naudia Jonassaint is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She left Cleveland to attend Johns Hopkins University and went onto the Yale School of Medicine. Her MD thesis was titled At the Root of Health Disparities: the black-white achievement gap. Dr. Jonassaint went back to Johns Hopkins to complete her medicine resident, chief residency, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology training. During her time there she also received an MHS from the Bloomberg School of Public Health. She then came to the University of Pittsburgh to join the faculty in 2014 as an assistant professor in medicine and surgery. Her research focuses on post-transplant HCV care as well racial disparities in transplant outcomes. Dr. Jonassaint serves as the medical director of hepatology and also was recently appointed Vice Chair of Diversity and Inclusion in the Department of Medicine at UPMC.
Anastasia White is a young professional in the Diversity and Inclusion field. She is currently the Diversity and Inclusion Program Coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine, where she develops community-building programs that promote diversity and inclusion and recruits underrepresented minority (URM) residents for the UPMC Internal Medicine Residency Program. Previously, Ms. White was the Development Associate at St. Edmund’s Academy in Squirrel Hill, where she managed the day-to-day responsibilities of institutional advancement. She received a bachelor’s in Communication and Mass Media with three minors in Women’s and Gender Studies, English, and Leadership and Social Change from Carlow University. This fall, Ms. White plans on pursing a master’s degree in Higher Education Management from the University of Pittsburgh School of Education.
